Learning how to live with and manage certain amount of stress, fear, anxiety and disappointment is essential to our well-being.
This is where I can help.
Are you an adult struggling with issues related to trauma, grief, addiction, anxiety, or major life changes?
We are best able to cope with stressors and triggers when we can manage the resulting emotions.
The use of drugs, alcohol or food to mask and manage painful inner world or compulsive activities done to excess such as sexual acting out, spending, or gambling, may represent misguided attempts to quiet/control a turbulent and troubled inner world (self-medicating).
Self-medication is an attempt to regulate emotional, psychological and physiological pain, whether the pain is a recent break up, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, work related stress, childhood trauma or low self-esteem.

How is working with me different?
My approach to therapy is active, collaborative and goal oriented. I find it the most effective therapy tends to have specific goals.
In my work, I utilize principles of Measurement Based Care (MBC).
MBC describes evidence-based practice of using systematic and routine assessment of the client’s perspective through client-reported progress and outcomes, such as symptoms and functioning to inform treatment decisions.
Keys to MBC
Components of Measurement Based Care:
-
Routinely collecting client-reported outcomes through the course of treatment
-
Sharing timely feedback with client and their reported progress scores over time
-
Acting on these data in the context of clinical judgment and client’s experience to guide the course of care
An example of MBC is completing scored surveys aimed at assessing levels of anxiety, depression, trauma or substance use along with their impact on daily functioning.
Helpful Information
Recently, I began certification process in utilizing TEAM-CBT framework for conducting measurement-based therapy.
TEAM-CBT is a major development of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) created by Dr. David Burns who is considered one of the forefathers of CBT and is a renowned psychiatrist based in California.
TEAM is an acronym for the four crucial ingredients of effective therapy known to improve treatment outcomes: Testing, Empathy, Agenda-Setting and Methods.
